Academy Baseball & Softball Athletic Code Of Conduct:
We believe sports is the vehicle to create more productive young men and women who will make a positive contribution to their community and society. Children who participate in youth sports have a proven advantage in life over children who do not participate. There is endless research on the benefits of youth sports, which unfortunately has been lost in this era of travel sports that we live in, such as:
· Discipline
· Accountability
· Hard work pays off.
· Teamwork- youth sports currently only focus on individual accomplishments and teach the individual is more important than the team. We support a team first mentality.
· Integrity
· Commitment
· Honesty
· Community
· Sense of belonging
· Perseverance and Determination
· Character
· Self Confidence
Parent/Player Code of Conduct:
· Parents will remember youth baseball is a game and it is fun to play. The game is for the youth not the adults.
· Parents/Players and Coaches will always demonstrate good sportsmanship.
· Parents/Players will be respectful of the coach’s decisions.
· Parents/Players will show interest, enthusiasm, and support for all children on the team.
· Parents will avoid any derogatory comments towards coaches. If there are concerns you wish to bring to the coach’s attention, parents will apply the “24 Hour Rule” before having a respectful, private conversation (wait 24 hours to schedule an appointment to speak with the coach).
· Parents will not coach their children during the games. This includes yelling any instructions to any player on the field.
· Parents will remain in the spectator area, and we will be in control of their emotions.
· Parents will not enter the field of play or dugout before or during games and practices.
· Parents/Players and Coaches will respect all umpires and not question or comment on any decisions or calls the umpires make.
· Parents will acknowledge that a player’s best effort is more important than winning and each player has a personal best which is unique to them. Not all players are at the same ability level and the important factor is the player’s effort and attitude.
· Parents will refrain from using profanity, insults, or demeaning language before/during or after games and practices.
· Parents will not complain about playing time to coaches or directors of the Academy. Parents will not be allowed to schedule meetings with coaches or Academy directors to discuss playing time. We have a zero-tolerance policy with complaints and discussions regarding playing time. If this occurs, parents and players will be asked to leave the program.
· Coaches will keep the best interests of the TEAM in mind when distributing playing time. Playing time is earned not guaranteed. With that said, coaches will always attempt to assure players get at least one at bat and 1 inning in the field, not all players will have equal playing time.
Any violation to the Code of Conduct can result in dismissal from the program and no refunds will be offered.
